Toddler & Preschool Dance in Fremont
Dance and tumbling for the very youngest dancers — built around a two-year-old's attention span, not against it.
For most families, this is not really a dance class — it is a child's first experience of a room with a routine, a teacher, and other children doing the same thing at the same time. We treat it that way. The dancing is real, but so is learning to take a turn, follow two instructions in a row, and find your own spot on the floor.
Sessions move quickly and change often, because a two-year-old's attention does. We mix music, movement games, beginning tumbling on soft mats, and just enough structure that children start to recognise the shape of a class. Progress at this age looks like a child walking in without holding your hand — and that is the milestone we are actually working toward.
What happens in a Tiny Tots class
- Opening circle. Names, a hello song, and the same start every week — small children rely on knowing what comes next.
- Movement games. Skipping, galloping, marching and balancing, disguised as play.
- Beginning tumbling. Rolls and simple shapes on soft mats, always with hands-on support.
- Props and music. Scarves, ribbons and rhythm instruments — the part every child talks about afterwards.
- Goodbye. A closing ritual, so children learn a class has an ending as well as a beginning.

Do I stay in the room with my child?
It depends on their age and how they are settling. For the youngest group, caregivers are usually welcome to stay at first. Most children are happy to be dropped off within a few weeks, and we never rush that transition.
My child is shy and might not join in. Is that a problem?
Not remotely. Plenty of children spend their first class sitting on the edge watching, and that is a completely normal way to start. Teachers invite rather than insist.
Is my 18-month-old really old enough?
If they are walking confidently, yes. Expect a class that looks like organised play — that is exactly what it should look like at this age.
Do they need dance clothes?
Nothing special to start. Comfortable clothes they can move in and bare feet or grippy socks. If you enrol, we will let you know what the class settles into.
